H.H. Smith & Sons consider the health & safety of its employees, sub-contractors and the general public to be of paramount importance, and employ a full time Safety, Health & Environmental Manager who is Nebosh qualified in Construction. External expertise is retained to assist H.H. Smith where appropriate. In September 2014, H.H. Smith achieved certification in ISO 14001 which was closely followed by OHSAS 18001 in January 2015.
H.H. Smith’s attitude towards Health & Safety ensures no prosecutions or fines have arisen from HSE inspections.
Projects are registered under the Considerate Constructors Scheme where appropriate, and all projects assessed under the scheme have complied.
The Considerate Constructors Scheme promotes awareness of building sites and the management of the surrounding environment and measures that can be taken to minimize the impact of construction.
H.H. Smith considers sustainability and the consequences of all construction work undertaken. All projects are assessed for associated risks and planning incorporates processes to reduce environmental impact. All staff are trained to consider actions and tool box talks include sustainable awareness.
Both sub contractors and suppliers are evaluated for their sustainable credentials. H.H. Smith looks to work with all clients to ensure a sustainable build.
