The Gamble Building, St Helens

HH Smith & Sons started work last month on a £1.37m scheme at this historic building of local interest in St Helens town centre. The key site forms part of St Helens Borough Council’s transformation plans for the town centre. Originally built in 1896 and supported by funds from Sir David Gamble, it was developed to support the advancement of technical and scientific skills among the local population. This first phase of work involves external repairs to the building including roofing, rooflight replacements, brickwork and stonework repointing and replacement, window replacement and external redecoration. Pick Everard and Buttress are also working on the scheme which should be complete towards the end of next March.
