July 2016 – Ashton Old Baths – Shortlisted for Greater Manchester Building of the Year
Ashton Old Baths completed by H.H. Smith in April 2016 was shortlisted for The Greater Manchester Building of the Year Award. The 4 other shortlisted projects for 2016 were Maggie’s at The Christie (eventual winner), Oldham Town Hall, King Street Townhouse & One New Bailey.
The award was organised by the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce.
Steve Burne, chair of the Chamber’s Property and Construction Committee and Managing Director at AEW Architects, said: “This year’s nominations once again highlight the quality of the projects being delivered across Greater Manchester and it was a difficult decision to choose only five finalists.
The Ashton Old Baths project was also shortlisted for the ‘Best Rescue Project’ run by Historic England Angel Awards 2016. The other shortlisted projects were Aire Street, Goole (eventual winner), Quay Place, Suffolk, and Building 17 at Cromford Mills, Derby.
