The health & safety of its employees, sub-contractors and the general public is of paramount importance to HH Smith & Sons. Because of this HH Smith & Sons employee a full time Health and Safety Manager named Juan Crous. Juan has completed his Nebosh Certificate in Construction and is currently completing his Nebosh Diploma. Juan is a Technician Member (Tech IOSH) of IOSH (Institute of Occupation Safety & Health) and is working toward a Graduate Membership. To assist the company we also retain the services external Health and Safety Consultant, Graham O’Neill from North West Safety Services (NWSS).

Because of our pro-active attitude towards Health & Safety HH Smith has very good record; the company has had 18 HSE Site Inspections since 2008 and no prosecution actions or fines have arisen from any of these inspections.

The company has numerous projects registered under the Considerate Constructors Scheme.
Projects have been inspected by Considerate Constructor Assessors and all sites have complied with the scheme. This is to promote awareness of Building sites and its management about the surrounding environment and measures that can be taken to improve this.
